Solid value for the price

I was looking for something affordable to boost my skills and found the SQL for Data Science course. I got a pretty good deal on it, which made the decision easy. The course itself covered a lot of ground and the exercises were helpful. I felt like I definitely got my money's worth. The certificate will look good on my resume too, so it was a practical investment. Delivery was instant since it's all online, which is always nice.

Absolutely loved my course!

Oh my goodness, I just completed the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate and it was fantastic! The instructors were so engaging and the projects were actually fun. I learned so much and feel really confident about my new skills. I'm already looking at the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate for next month. I'm telling everyone I know to check Coursera out, you won't regret it!

Reliable learning platform

I've used Coursera a few times now for different specializations. This time I enrolled in the Machine Learning Specialization. It's consistently good, just like my previous experiences with their Professional Certificates. The content is always high quality and well-structured, which is why I keep coming back. I know what to expect and they always deliver. They recently updated the interface a bit, which took a minute to get used to, but it's still very functional.

Good course, easy to use

I just finished the AI for Everyone course and it was pretty good. The videos were clear and the quizzes helped me check if I understood things. Navigating the platform was easy enough too, no real glitches or anything. It felt like a solid experience overall.

Hey guys, is Coursera actually worth it for like, getting a job? Or is it mostly just for personal learning? I'm looking at that Google Data Analytics one.

B Beth D. 3 months ago
From what I've seen, it totally depends on the certificate and the company. Google and IBM ones are pretty recognized, especially for entry-level stuff. I know someone who got an internship because of the Google IT Support cert.

I think it's more about what you *do* with the certificate. Like, if you just get it and don't build a portfolio or project, it's not going to magic you a job. But it can definitely open doors and get you past HR filters.

Quick question on payment. Can I pay for just one course, or do I have to get Coursera Plus for everything? I just want to do one specific Machine Learning Specialization.

J James 2 months ago
You can totally pay for just one course or specialization! You don't have to get Coursera Plus unless you plan on taking a bunch of different things. Most individual courses have a 'purchase course' or 'enroll' option that lets you pay for just that.

Yeah, if it's a specialization, you usually pay per month until you finish it, or you can buy the whole thing upfront. Coursera Plus is more like a Netflix for courses, but you don't *need* it.

anyone compare coursera to udemy? is coursera actually better or just more expensive? looking at dev stuff.

P Paula Patel 2 months ago
Coursera usually feels more structured, with actual university partners and often peer-graded assignments. Udemy is more like independent instructors, so quality can vary a lot more. For dev, if you want something with a bit more academic rigor or a specific university name, Coursera is probably better.

Yeah, Coursera is generally more 'official' and often has actual university or company names behind the courses, so it looks a bit better on a resume. Udemy can be good for quick, cheap skills, but Coursera feels more like a mini-degree sometimes.

How long does it usually take to actually get a certificate once you finish all the coursework? Is it instant or do they review it or something?

M Mike Z. 3 months ago
It's pretty much instant if you've completed all the graded assignments and passed everything. As soon as the final thing is submitted and marked, you usually get an email and can download it.

E Elena T. 3 months ago
Yep, usually you can download it right away. No long waiting period like for a university degree or anything. You can add it to LinkedIn immediately too.

Thinking of signing up for Coursera Plus. Does anyone know if there's usually a Black Friday deal for it? Or should I just jump on the current annual discount?

J James 3 months ago
Yeah, they usually have something around Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I got a pretty sweet discount on my annual subscription last year, like $100 off, during that period. Might be worth waiting if you're not in a rush.

I think they do, but sometimes the 'annual discount' they have now is pretty close. I'd check back closer to Nov, but if the current deal is good enough for you, go for it. Waiting can sometimes mean you miss out if they change their deals up.
